Kai Havertz‘s wishes have been granted by the Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro as the 21-year-old German international finally allowed to join Chelsea
Leverkusen will respect Havertz wishes
Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro admits the club will have to respect Kai Havertz‘s wishes.
The attacking midfielder has been linked with Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich, and Carro admits the player is likely to want to leave soon.
“Many clubs are interested in him,” he said.
“I see the player’s wish to take the next step sometime in the near future.
“You have to respect that as much as the fact that he has a contract in until 2022.”
Werner to play in Champions League?
Timo Werner may well be able to play for Chelsea this season.
The Blues are closing in on signing the striker from RB Leipzig, who he has already played for in the Champions League this season.
Yet UEFA removed cup tie rules for European competition in 2018 after Philippe Coutinho was forced to sit out Barcelona’s Champions League campaign following a January move from Liverpool.
The coronavirus postponement means the summer transfer window could well open before the Champions League’s resumption in August when the competition is set to be completed in a World Cup-style end-of-season tournament.
That could well see Werner complete a move to Stamford Bridge before the competition resumes – with reports overnight claiming that he would prefer to play for Chelsea instead of Leipzig in the remaining fixtures.
UEFA are set to meet tomorrow to discuss registration rules regarding the remaining games and Werner could well be high on the list of topics. >>> Read More
