Meet Yakubu Ayegbeni the Man who send Nigeria out of 2010 World Cup in South Africa

Yakubu Ayegbeni will always remain a Nigerian Legend. He is a very prolific goalscorer who played in a host of European clubs and achieved a lot in his career.

’The Yak’ as he is fondly referred to in England, scored well over 100 goals in his career. As legendary as his stats are, he cannot be forgotten for his miss against South Korea at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. His name comes up anytime a striker misses an open goal or supposedly wastes an ‘easy goal’

Yakubu Ayegbeni is now retired ( he retired in 2017) at 37 years his appearance is now changing after an illustrious career that took him from Julius Berger team here in Nigeria to retiring at Coventry city in 2017. He scored over 200 goals in his career.

He played for Portsmouth in England and he scored over 40 goals for the potters. He also played at Middlesbrough before moving to Everton and he was loaned to Leicester City. He also had a stint with Blackburn Rovers and Reading. He played over 200 games in the Premier League.
