Manchester United on the verge to announce double signing Alex Telles from Porto and Edinson Cavani from PSG as the duo completed their medical
Transfer Deadline Day is here and Manchester United fans will be hoping the Red Devils can get some deals over the line.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer watched his side hit for six on Sunday and will be desperate to bolster his options.
He should be boosted by the signing of Edinson Cavani, while they brought in Donny van de Beek earlier in the window.
United remain keen on Jadon Sancho, but they have so far failed to meet Borussia Dortmund’s valuation of the player.
Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele has been offered as a cut-price alternative, although the Frenchman has also been linked with Liverpool.
Sport journalist Fabrizio Romano hinted on the deadline day Man United latest transfer news on his twitter official page
“Manchester United and Porto have reached an agreement for Alex Telles! Last details to be sorted on next few hours, then medicals and official announcement. Here we go soon! 🔴
Alex Telles is now having medicals as new Manchester United player. Contract until June 2025 [4 years + 1 option] to be signed later today. Here we go confirmed 🔴
Man United will complete both deals for Cavani and Alex Telles tomorrow… and are still in negotiations with Barcelona for Ousmane Démbélé, offering a loan.
If Démbélé will join Manchester United, Barcelona will try again to sign Memphis Depay on a permanent deal. 🔴 ”
Telles undergoing medical
Alex Telles is currently undergoing a medical in Manchester ahead of his £13.5million move from Porto to Manchester United.
The left-back will sign a four-year deal with an option for an extra year.
He will provide competition for Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams.
Seven deals that could happen on deadline day
Manchester United fans will hope that transfer deadline day goes better than the rest of the window following a frustrating summer for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
Edinson Cavani is set to sign on a free transfer after leaving PSG, but United look set for disappointment in their chase for Jadon Sancho.
Sancho was Solskjaer’s top target all summer, but Borussia Dortmund have stuck fast to their £108million price tag, prompting United to turn to other targets.
Hence the imminent arrival of Cavani, who looks set to become only the second signing of the summer for the Red Devils after midfielder Donny van de Beek joined from Ajax in a £40million deal.
Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has come in for some criticism given United’s relative lack of transfer activity – although they do look set to sign left-back Alex Telles from Porto on deadline day.
