Can we do a third story in just as many days about how Kai Havertz has told Bayer Leverkusen that he wants to leave and that he would consider joining Chelsea if we make ourselves officially known with a bid? We had one were that was set to happen, then one where it was happening, and now we have one where it has happened. Let’s learn about tenses!
But yes, of course we can. These sweet clicks ain’t gonna click themselves! This one comes from Transfer Oracle Fabrizio Romano, so, you know … here we go!
Romano adds a bit of flavor by saying that any incoming bid would have to be an “important bid” — not sure what that means, but it probably involves a lot of zeros — but more importantly, also adds that Havertz would “consider talks about personal terms” (i.e. a contract) until 2025. Five-year deals are standard, and Chelsea certainly pay well, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
Romano sprinkles on a bit of Werner, too, with Chelsea’s newest signing doing a bit of agenting a la Rüdiger, so this is all looking quite wunderbar.
Not to be left behind, the Telegraph’s Matt Law chimes in as well, with more of the same. Yeah, buddy!
