Chelsea lineup vs Plymouth, Team News, And Prediction

Thomas Tuchel take team decision on meeting with Lukaku - full text speech

Chelsea Players have had a lot of time to rest during the January winter break. The Players returned to Cobham training ground earlier this week ahead of their FA Cup encounter against Plymouth Argyle during lunchtime hour on Saturday.

Chelsea haven’t lost in the 4th round of the FA Cup since 2015 and the encounter against Plymouth Argyle is expected to be a walk in the park for the Blues. The Match is also an opportunity for Thomas Tuchel to give chance to a lot of fringe Players in the squad.

The German Gaffer has used a back-three Defense set for most of his games as Chelsea Manager. However, he has used a back-four defense formation in 3 out of Chelsea’s last game before the break.

The reason for changing to back-four is because of the Injured wing-backs Reece James and Ben Chilwell. That formation has also helped Chelsea in the Attacking areas with Players like Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi being able to play in their favourite position.

Thomas Tuchel is expected to return to his back-three Defense lineup against Plymouth Argyle with Brazilian Winger Kenedy playing in the left wing-back while Callum Hudson-Odoi will play in the right wing-back.

Back-three Defense set-up

Andreas Christensen, Malang Sarr and Trevor Chalobah are expected to play in the back-three Defense while Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva will sit out the game so as to be rested for the Blues’ opener of the FIFA Club World Cup tournament in United Arab Emirates next week.

In another setup that’s completely different, Thomas Tuchel could set up his Squad by reverting to the back-four. This will certainly see Cesar Azpilicueta starting in the Right-back position while Marcos Alonso will start in the Left-back with Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr in the Centre-back.

Prediction: Plymouth 0-4 Chelsea.
