Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia confident of completing two transfers before squad return

Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia is confident of getting two more deals over the line.

Marina Granovskaia has worked wonders at Chelsea so far this transfer window in capturing Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner but the transfer guru will not stop her work there as she is reportedly close to securing another two new additions.

It is no secret that talks with Bayer Leverkusen have been progressing well this week and Kai Havertz could soon join Chelsea.

The two clubs are edging closer to an agreement after initially being £20million apart in their valuations.

The Athletic claims Granovskaia is confident of landing the 21-year-old and the deal could be completed within a week.

Leverkusen will return for pre-season training on August 27 and they want the transfer saga ended by that date.

Once Chelsea have added sufficient firepower they will turn their attention to fixing their leaky defence.

The Athletic adds that Granovskaia feels she is well placed to secure at least one target before Frank Lampard’s squad returns to west London in September.

Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell is high on the Blues’ wishlist and there is a strong feeling he can wrap up a move in the near future.

The Foxes are expected to hold out for a fee in the region of £80m, similar to what Manchester United paid for Harry Maguire.

It is unlikely that Chelsea will pay such a substantial sum but Granovskaia is apparently gaining impressive momentum.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has warned Lampard that he will not sell his 23-year-old England international on the cheap.

“He’s a Leicester City player and not a player we want to lose,” the Northern Irishman said.

“There’s no intention to sell Ben Chilwell and there’s absolutely no need to sell.

“So the message is he’s not for sale – it’s as simple as that.”

Meanwhile, Granovskaia has also been tasked with signing a new goalkeeper and centre-back before the October 5 transfer deadline.

But to fund those moves a number of player sales are required.
