The Federal Government has announced phase iv of COVID-19 lockdown, and restrictions across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This new directive is to take effect by midnight of Tuesday, a member of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19, Dr Mukhtar Mohammed, declared. Mohammed, who is the Head of Technical Secretariat of the PSC, made the announcement while briefing reporters on Monday in Abuja. The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Wednesday and Thursday as public holidays to mark the 2021 Eid-Al-Fitr celebration. The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government on Monday. A statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, quoted Aregbesola as congratulating the Muslim faithful on the occasion.
