Enzo Maresca has been left ‘impressed’ by one of Chelsea’s big teenage talents in training and could start him against Aston Villa on the weekend.
Chelsea are in a difficult period right now having won just twice in their last 11 matches in all competitions leaving Maresca having to rethink his set-up.
But despite the defeat to Brighton and the West London club’s poor form they remain firmly in the race for Champions League qualification and are level on points with fifth-place Bournemouth.
The Blues face a tough away trip to Villa on Saturday and the former Leicester boss is thinking about handing one of his top young players his first Premier League start.
Enzo Maresca considering Tyrique George starting for Chelsea
Enzo Maresca is considering whether Tyrique George is ready for his first Premier League start, according to the Daily Mail.
Noni Madueke, who cost Chelsea £29m, has suffered a hamstring injury and is set for a spell on the sidelines leaving the Italian manager having to consider his options.
George has already featured 12 times for the Blues this season having played seven times in Europa Conference League, twice in the FA Cup and Premier League and once in the EFL Cup.
The 19-year-old has experienced just 31 minutes of top-flight football though and could now be thrown in from the start against Aston Villa.
The winger has ‘impressed’ Maresca in training and also with his brief cameo in the league defeat to Brighton despite still being ‘somewhat raw’.
How could Enzo Maresca line Chelsea up vs Aston Villa?
Maresca is facing the headache of having to find a replacement for the injured Nicolas Jackson with Christopher Nkunku disappointing against Brighton.
But unfortunately, his options are very limited and the Frenchman may have to lead the line for the Blues at Villa Park.
Jadon Sancho could be brought back into the team as well to replace Pedro Neto who struggled in both matches at the Amex Stadium.
