How Marc Cucurella double errors earned Spurs 2 goals

Marc Cucurella slips twice to give Spurs two goals.

11 minutes played, Chelsea are 2 goals down, and it’s come in the most embarrassing fashion possible.

Marc Cucurella slipped to hand Spurs the first goal, and then slipped again to hand them the second. Just when he’s starting to earn fans’ affections, he goes and does this.

It’s honestly one of the most bizarre and enraging sights we’ve seen in football for quite some time. How can a player go out to play in the wrong footwear after having warmed up on the pitch? And even worse, how can they play on in that wrong footwear after already having given one goal away.

You can see the goals in the clips embedded here, but make sure you’ve got a stress toy handy:

Where Chelsea go from here after embarrassing start

It’s been a dreadful start -not just the mistakes, the Blues simply didn’t get going. From an early Benoit Badiashile error to a nervy Robert Sanchez clearance (we’ve heard that before), Enzo Maresca’s team have instantly crumbled under the pressure of playing a derby at White Hart Lane.

Still, as we saw last season, and as we’ve seen in plenty of their recent games, Spurs are as fragile as anyone in the league, and if we can just get our heads on we can certainly still get something from this game. Cristian Romero has been subbed off, meaning a vulnerability at the heart of Tottenham’s defence – but the pattern of the game needs to change right now….

GOOD NEWS! It’s 2-1. Jadon Sancho has hit a superb strike form outside the box and it’s game on again:
