One Chelsea player has become the first ever Blue to win a POTY award, and he has won it over the likes of Rodri, Bukayo Saka, Mo Salah, Ollie Watkins and more.
Personally I have to hold my hands up here, I’d never actually heard of this award before today. But maybe I’ve had my head in the sand?
Cole Palmer has been named the @WeAreTheFSA Men’s Player of the Year for 2024. He’s the first Chelsea player to ever win the award, which is another massive achievement.
He’s also won it over some other very big names.
The FSA are the Football Supporters’ Association and they had many different awards handed out last night from players to media outlets to pundits, commentators, and more.
Maybe I need to do more to take note of these awards going forward.
It once again just shows the kind of impact that Palmer has had since arriving at Chelsea. His goals and assists since he came here from Manchester City are just insane levels. To think that many people were doubting this transfer and whether Palmer was even going to be worth the £40m odd that Chelsea paid to sign him just looks even more crazy now.
He’s had some quieter games of late but Palmer was right back on it again at the weekend, scoring a world class goal for Chelsea to help them beat Aston Villa 3-0 in the league.
I’m sure that he is going to yet again be up for a bunch more awards come the end of this year and then again at the end of the current season, because I only see him getting better and better still.
