While Chelsea were able to beat Club America 3-0, Enzo Maresca‘s men have also lost 4-1 to Celtic and now 4-2 against Man City.
Chelsea have also drawn 2-2 with League One side Wrexham, so their pre-season tour in the United States is not going well.
Against City, they found themselves 4-0 down at one point, with Erling Haaland’s hat-trick putting Pep Guardiola’s team 3-0 up.
The new Chelsea manager has now shared what he told Reece James after Haaland’s second goal of the game.

Enzo Maresca not concerned about Chelsea’s decision-making
Guardiola has tipped Maresca to achieve success, but it may be a while if Chelsea’s performances in pre-season so far are anything to go by.
After Saturday’s game, Maresca was asked if he was concerned about Chelsea’s decision-making. In response, the Italian told football.london and other outlets: “Not concerned because we need time to understand the moments. It’s just about when you concede and you are on the pitch, you need to talk to each other and say, ‘Guys, we conceded’ and try to organise a little bit.
“That is exactly what I said. After the second goal, I called Reece [James] to the bench and I told him, ‘Okay, now we start the game and try to do things in a different way because we conceded two goals’. If you review the first-half, apart from the first five minutes, nothing to say.”
James missed most of last season because of injury. However, James says he feels really strong again, and Maresca will now be hoping that he can stay fit.
Should Enzo Maresca be concerned after Man City vs Chelsea?
What City have just done to Chelsea, they can do it to most teams in the world, especially when Haaland is fit and firing.
Ultimately, Maresca probably does not have to be too concerned about the result. When Chelsea welcome City to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League later this month, you would expect a much different scoreline.
That being said, Maresca cannot be happy with his side conceding two goals in the space of a minute and so early in the first half.
Maresca has already spoken about Chelsea’s backline during the club’s pre-season tour. Going forward, they obviously have to improve, otherwise it is going to be a very long campaign for supporters. Chelsea’s next friendly is against Real Madrid on Wednesday, which is another tough test.
