Man City plan £40m offer for Chelsea star as Kingsley Coman instance emerges

Manchester City are plotting a surprise swoop for Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell this summer. That's according to reports from Team Talk on the England international, who has also been linked with Manchester United previously.

Chilwell is said to be considering his options moving forward. Enzo Maresca is thought to favour Euro 2024 winner Marc Cucurella as Chelsea's first choice in Chilwell's position this season.

The article reckons that a fresh start could be just the ticket for Chilwell this summer and City have, seemingly, got their eye on him. A proposed transfer fee around £40million has been mooted.

City snapped-up Josko Gvardiol from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig last summer and he was their regular left-back in another title-winning campaign. However, the Croatia defender is a centre-back by trade and Pep Guardiola could pursue further competition in that area after Sergio Gomez departed.

Gomez headed to Real Sociedad this summer. Chilwell remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2027.

Elsewhere, reports from German publication BILD expect City to come calling for Kingsley Coman. The Frenchman, 28, faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena with Bayern Munich potentially looking to sell.

A loan deal has also been mooted. Coman is claimed to have Arsenal, Barcelona and PSG tracking his signature.

That means City could find themselves locked in a battle to sign the former Juventus forward. Coman is tipped as a possible replacement for Julian Alvarez with City yet to spend their £81.5million windfall after he agreed a switch to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid this summer, leaving Guardiola one man down in attacking quarters.

Coman is under contract with the German heavyweights until 2027. His overall record for Bayern reads 294 games, 63 goals and 66 assists, while he has won a staggering eight Bundesliga titles.
