Erling Haaland reacts to Marc Cucurella's Haaland chant in City's 2-0 win at bridge

Erling Haaland has addressed the viral chant by Marc Cucurella that surfaced after Spain's Euro 2024 victory, where Cucurella played a key role, according to Daily Express.

The Manchester City striker responded with his performance on the pitch as the Premier League season began.

Haaland made a decisive impact during City's match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, scoring the opening goal before Mateo Kovacic sealed the win with a late strike.

In the 18th minute, Haaland showed his prowess by powering past Cucurella and elegantly lifting the ball over goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

The buildup to this game had heightened interest due to Cucurella’s jibe at Haaland during Euro 2024 celebrations.

Spain's 2-1 victory over England in the final was marked by Cucurella's involvement in setting up Mikel Oyarzabal's decisive goal.

During the celebrations in Madrid, Cucurella joined in singing a chant that quickly became notorious among English fans.

The chant included the lyrics: "Cucurella eats paella, Cucurella drinks Estrella, Haaland trembles that Cucurella is coming."

This catchy verse fueled some discontent among English supporters, given Cucurella's previous playful jab.

As Haaland scored against Cucurella, the latter later appeared to be injured in the 80th minute.

While Cucurella's Chelsea teammates, Enzo Fernandez and Pedro Neto, attended to him, Haaland was seen passing by without acknowledging the situation.

Post-match, Haaland said on Cucurella’s chant, revealing their prior interactions. “Well, Cucurella is a funny man. Last season he asked for my shirt… and this summer he sings a song about me,” Haaland told Viaplay.
