Chelsea’s preparation for the new Premier League season came to an end this weekend with a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan.

The Blues rescued a draw thanks to Lesley Ugochukwu’s late goal, with supporters impressed by the performance he put in at Stamford Bridge.

A lot of the players who started the game yesterday will likely be named in the side who take on Manchester City when the Premier League returns next weekend.

However, one of those who began on the bench who will likely start is Moises Caicedo, with him a second half substitute against the Serie A champions.

While he came on in his regular role of central midfield, he was late on seen playing a role that Chelsea fans will not be familiar with him in.

Moises Caicedo features as right-back for Chelsea

According to journalist Nizaar Kinsella, the Ecuador international filled in the role of right-back after some late substitutions.

He said: “Caicedo is playing at right back after Ugochukwu comes on for Malo Gusto.”

It looks as if Caicedo has already made an impression on Maresca, with him describing him as ‘sensational’ earlier this summer.

With him looking a certainty to start the season in midfield, attention will then turn to who will play alongside him when the Champions arrive next Sunday.

Enzo Fernandez likely to captain Chelsea vs Manchester City

Enzo Fernandez is another player who is likely to play, and also fulfil the role of captain after Reece James’ recent injury setback.

Pre-season has seen Romeo Lavia show Chelsea fans exactly what he can do after hardly being able to feature in his first campaign at the club, and there is a big argument for him to start the campaign in the middle of the park alongside the two £100m signings.

There is also of course new addition Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who likely has the best understanding of what Maresca wants from his players after working with him at Leicester City last season.
