Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano broke the story that Chelsea are in talks to sign Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix and has now given an update on the situation.
Chelsea were meant to be signing Joao Felix‘s Atletico teammate Samu Omorodion to boost their options up front.
However, an issue surrounding agent commissions has seen Omorodion’s move to Chelsea collapse.
As a result, the Blues have now turned their attention to bringing in Felix, who they have already signed from Atletico before. The Portuguese attacker joined Chelsea on loan for the second half of the 2022/23 season.

Chelsea inching closer to signing Joao Felix
Any Chelsea supporter who was hoping to see Felix return to Stamford Bridge, now may be the time to get excited.
While a deal has not been wrapped up yet, the Blues look to be moving closer to landing the 24-year-old’s signature.
According to Romano, things have entered into the key stage now, with Felix’s agent Jorge Mendes currently in London to negotiate his potential return to the capital.
In a post on X, the Italian journalist wrote: “Joao Felix story exclusively revealed yesterday night, entering into key stages. Jorge Mendes, still in London to negotiate his potential return to Chelsea… talks remain ongoing.”
Chelsea could end up paying €50m (£42.8m) for Felix, who spent the previous campaign out on loan at Barcelona.
Could Chelsea end up signing Joao Felix and Samu Omorodion?
Felix and Omorodion are clearly two individuals who Chelsea admire; however, it looks like they are only interested in signing the former now.
A deal for Omorodion now appears to be dead in the water. According to journalist Ryan Taylor, it is highly unlikely that the Blues revive a transfer for the 20-year-old.
It is probably not the end of the world, especially if Chelsea go on to sign another striker, such as Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
Following Omorodion’s transfer collapsing, Osimhen has now gone to the top of Chelsea’s list. A more experienced and proven striker, the Nigeria international should have been the club’s priority anyway.
