Chelsea star wins man of the match award against Inter

Chelsea ended their pre-season preparations for the new Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, but left it late to share the spoils against the Serie A champions.

Despite dominating proceedings in the first half, Maresca's side found themselves a goal behind following Thuram's stunning strike just shy of the hour mark.

The Blues managed an expected goals (xG) of 2.27 compared to Inter's 0.34 during the contest, and looked like they were heading for a third pre-season defeat until substitute Ugochukwu fired a strike beyond Sommer in what was the final kick of the encounter.

Chelsea saw seven of their 21 shots on target, and will need to improve in front of goal ahead of welcoming champions Manchester City to SW6 next weekend.

Meanwhile, Inter will be happy with their defensive display, kickstarting the defence of their Serie A title defence away to Genoa on August 17.

After the completion of the match, France and Chelsea midfielder, Lesley Ugochukwu was voted the man of the match after his impressive performance against Inter Milan.

The 20-year-old came off the substitute bench to snatch a late goal which ensured Chelsea ended their pre-season with a draw.
