Wesley Fofana has revealed he started to love Chelsea because of club legend Didier Drogba, and went to Marseille games just so he could watch the striker.
Fofana arrived at Chelsea from Leicester in the summer of 2022 in a deal worth £70m, but his time at Stamford Bridge has been plagued by injury issues.
The 23-year-old missed the entire of the last campaign with an ACL injury and has made just 20 appearances across two seasons at Stamford Bridge.

The Frenchman returned to pre-season training earlier this month, and made his first appearance in over a year as he played the second half of Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Wrexham.
Fofana understandably looked a bit rusty, but he showed signs of some his trademark aggressive front foot defending, and will be hoping to build his fitness and match sharpness as the tour progresses.
If he’s fit there’s a high possibility that he forms part of Chelsea’s first choice centre back pairing for next season, and Enzo Maresca said after the Wrexham game that Fofana is going to be very important.

Fofana will hope his injury issues are now behind him.
Speaking exclusively to Chelsea’s official app Fofana admitted his love for the club started because of Drogba and that surprisingly he played as a striker as a youngster.
“I started to love Chelsea because of one man: Didier Drogba,” he said.
“I played striker when I was a boy, just so I could be like Drogba.
“I went to Marseille games, just so I could watch Drogba, I sat and watched YouTube videos for hours, just so I could learn from Drogba.”
Fofana also opened up on his aspirations for his career at Chelsea and revealed he wants to have a banner at Stamford Bridge.
“I hope to be like the French legends Desailly and Makelele,” he added.
“I hope in 20 years time, I will have a banner at Stamford Bridge, just like them.
“But I wouldn’t even be playing for Chelsea if it wasn’t for my family.”
“My grandmother, my mum, and that’s why on my social media accounts, I use the hashtag #PourEux, because everything I do is for them.”
