Steve Nicol thinks at least three Chelsea players are not good enough for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Chelsea were humiliated by Newcastle United over the weekend, losing 4-1 to the Magpies, and Steve Nicol has since gone on ESPN FC and criticised the team and a few of their players.
Nicolas Jackson is one Chelsea star who Nicol was not particularly impressed with, while the former Liverpool man did not hold back when it came to youngster Lesley Ugochukwu either.
The Blues will look to bounce back when they face Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
They will have to do it without their captain Reece James, though, who was sent off in the defeat at St James’ Park, something Mauricio Pochettino was not happy about.
Steve Nicol slams Chelsea trio
Nicol has criticised Jackson, Ugochukwu and Conor Gallagher following Chelsea’s loss to Newcastle.
Discussing the trio on ESPN FC, the pundit said: “They’ve got players playing that shouldn’t be playing in a team that’s supposed to be in the top four, let me put it that way. You know, Jackson up front isn’t good enough, Gallagher’s not good enough. Ugochukwu today showed that I don’t think he’s good enough.”

Are Nicolas Jackson, Conor Gallagher and Lesley Ugochukwu good enough for Chelsea?
As squad players, we do not think there is too much wrong with having Jackson and Gallagher at Stamford Bridge.
In fact, Gallagher probably deserves to be a starter right now. His performance against Newcastle was not his best, but he is still making 2.8 tackles per game, which is the third-highest average in Pochettino‘s squad.
As for Jackson, he may not cut it as a first-choice No.9 at Chelsea at this stage of his career, but the 22-year-old has shown enough to suggest that he would not be a bad deputy to a more experienced and clinical centre-forward.
Ugochukwu, however, may need a loan move before he is ready to make a significant contribution to this Chelsea team. The Frenchman has looked raw at times, which is understandable given that he is not even 20 yet.
